The City of Oakland Park has just finished planting new trees at Dr. Carter G. Woodson Park! The City was able to purchase the trees thanks to a $10,000 Urban and Community Forestry grant. The Grade #1 trees included Gumbo Limbo, Carpentaria Palm, Orange Geiger, Eagleston Holly, and Pink Trumpet.
The City worked with a local landscape contractor to enhance the City’s urban forest by installing native trees as part of a larger landscape effort at Carter Woodson Park, which included the installation of a Community Garden.
Oakland Park wants to thank the technical and financial assistance provided by the U.S. Forest Service, Florida Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services, and Florida Forest Service.
