Library Services Are on the Move
The Oakland Park Library is preparing for an exciting new chapter! This fall, it will temporarily relocate to the Jaco Pastorius Community Center, where services and programs are expected to begin in October 2025.
What’s Happening Now?
The library team is packing up and preparing to move into its temporary home at the Jaco Pastorius Community Center at 1098 NE 40th Court.
Weekly Children’s Storytime will continue on Wednesdays at 10 a.m.
Until further notice, most other programs will pause until the relocation is complete.
As books and materials are carefully packed, our team remains committed to ensuring a smooth transition and continued access to library resources. For more information, please call 954-630-4370.
The Future Home of the Library
The long-term vision is even more exciting. The library will move into a brand-new facility at the Collins Community Center, located at 3900 NE 3rd Avenue. This modern library and community hub is supported by a $2 million FloridaCommerce grant and will bring new opportunities for education, technology, and job creation.
The new facility will include:
• Expanded educational and workforce programs
• Access to technology and spaces for telehealth visits, job interviews, and online learning
• A cutting-edge technology hub
• Flexible, inclusive spaces for all ages
Centrally located in City Centennial Park, the new library is expected to open in early to mid-2026. More than just a building, it will anchor a vibrant, walkable area that strengthens quality of life and supports economic revitalization in Oakland Park’s small-town city setting.
Why It Matters
This move is about more than a change of address. It reflects Oakland Park’s commitment to equity, opportunity, and thoughtful growth. By expanding educational access, enhancing job readiness, and creating spaces for connection, the new library will help shape a stronger, more connected community for years to come.
