Fire Rescue Department
The Oakland Park Fire Rescue Department provides fire suppression and advanced life support emergency medical services to the City of Oakland Park. Specialty services such as hazardous materials and technical rescue are provided through regional teams available through a countywide mutual aid system. The total coverage area is approximately 9 square miles with a residential population of more than 44,500.
Approximately 20% of the coverage area is zoned commercial or industrial, with the remainder being single or multi-family residential. Interstate 95 and 2 major railroad lines (FEC and CSX) pass through the department's service area.
Mission
Our mission is to be a high-performance team, which is recognized by our community for providing quality, compassionate, and efficient fire suppression, prevention, and emergency medical services.

Water SMART Broward is a coalition/collaborative effort composed of Florida Department of Health in Broward County, Broward County, and is funded by the Children's Services Council of Broward County. Broward County has the highest drowning deaths of any county in the state of Florida (2022). Broward County has many bodies of water (lakes, retention ponds, residential and commercial pools, ocean, canals), which increase risk factors. Water SMART Broward focuses on initiatives to promote water safety awareness and collaborate with partners such as cities, schools, and organizations to effectively reach audiences. Water SMART Broward utilizes outreach to teach members of the community how to be safe around water and prevent drownings. We stress many different precautions with focus on adult supervision, using barriers around bodies of water (door alarms, locks, self-latching and self-closing gates and fences), learning to swim and learning CPR, and staying away from drains to avoid entrapment.
