Mayor Lonergan Attends the 93rd U.S. Conference of Mayors Meeting

Oakland Park Mayor Tim Lonergan joined over 260 bipartisan mayors from across the country in Washington, D.C., from January 17–19 for the 93rd United States Conference of Mayors (USCM) Winter Meeting. The event provided a platform for mayors to address pressing challenges such as affordable housing, public safety, immigration, and infrastructure while engaging with key federal leaders and national experts.

The conference, presided over by USCM President and Columbus Mayor Andrew J. Ginther, included impactful discussions with members of Congress, White House officials, and private sector leaders. President Biden also participated, emphasizing the collaborative achievements between cities and the federal government during his administration.

Mayor Lonergan expressed the importance of Oakland Park’s representation at the event. "It’s an honor to join my fellow mayors in these critical discussions," said Mayor Lonergan. "The issues we’re addressing—like affordable housing and infrastructure—directly impact the lives of our residents. This meeting is a unique opportunity to share ideas, learn from innovative solutions in other cities, and ensure Oakland Park’s voice is heard on the national stage."

The USCM Winter Meeting highlighted the importance of collaboration between city and federal leaders to drive solutions for shared challenges. Attending mayors exchanged best practices and discussed trends in municipal governance, aiming to create more resilient and thriving communities.
