The City of Oakland Park is proud to share a significant step forward in enhancing pedestrian safety and mobility. With a $250,000 legislative allocation from the State of Florida and a $1 million federal grant through the Railroad Crossing Elimination Grant Program, the City will advance a transformative project at the NE 36th Street railroad crossing.

This funding will support the planning, design, and environmental assessment of an above-grade pedestrian crossing to replace the existing at-grade crossing between NE 12th Avenue and Dixie Highway. The project will provide a safer, more convenient route for residents, workers, and visitors navigating this busy corridor.

In addition to improving safety and connectivity, the initiative aligns with Oakland Park’s vision for a walkable and connected Downtown. It will foster economic growth and create a vibrant, accessible environment that supports tourism, hospitality, and entertainment.
