The City of Oakland Park has its annual Youth Day Parade on Saturday, March 14th, which will require
closing a section of NE 6th Avenue at NE 38th Street, and N. Dixie Highway between NE 40th Court and
NE 38th Street. The road will be shut down at 9:15 a.m. and will re-open at approximately 11:00 a.m.
The Broward Sheriffs Office and the City of Oakland Park will re-route traffic through the affected areas
for this parade. Along with all the signage and cones, there will be a marked BSO unit at every
intersection along N. Dixie Highway and NE 38th Street to assist with traffic flow and direction.
Detour:
From the south, local traffic can access Dixie Highway north from Oakland Park Boulevard all the way to NE 36th Street where they can turn around or be diverted west if they need access to the neighborhood.
From the north, local traffic can access Dixie Highway south from Prospect Road all the way to NE 40th Court where they can turn around or be diverted west if they need access to the neighborhood.
Electronic signs will be placed at Oakland Park Boulevard and Prospect Road detouring through traffic to Andrew Avenue.
Closures will commence at 9:15 a.m. and roads will reopen once the parade leaves Dixie Highway (approximately 11:00 a.m).
63rd Annual Youth Day Parade Route:
The parade will leave from Jaco Pastorius Park on Saturday, Marc h 14, 2020 at 10:00 am, at
4000 N. Dixie Hwy and turn south onto Dixie Highway for one and a half blocks, where it will turn
west onto NE 38th Street. The parade will continue west on NE 38th Street to NE 5th Avenue
where it will turn north onto NE 5th Avenue. The parade will continue north for one block on
NE 5th Avenue to Wimberly Field which is the endpoint for the parade.
