Oakland Park Opens Dorian Relief Effort to Assist Bahamas Recovery
OAKLAND PARK, FL…Oakland Park City officials have announced details for a relief effort to assist The Bahama Islands with their recovery efforts in the aftermath of the devastating impact of Hurricane Dorian.
Oakland Park’s efforts will involve joint partnerships with United Badges of Honor and the American Red Cross with the active participation of the Kiwanis Club of Oakland Park, according to the City’s Chief of Fire-Rescue Stephen Krivjanik.
The government of the Bahamas has also posted an extensive list of approved, vetted options for disaster relief donations, available at https://www.bahamas.com/relief, as well as a detailed list of the items most urgently needed including: building supplies, cleaning supplies, non-perishable groceries and baby food, home & outdoor supplies, and safety & hygiene items. All bedding materials must be new.
Donated items can be dropped of between the hours of 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week at any of Oakland Park’s three Fire-Rescue stations located at:
