2020 U.S. Census Information Meeting Presented in Spanish and English

Wednesday, January 29, 2020

The City of Oakland Park Census Action Team invites you to join us for 2020 U.S. Census information meeting presented in Spanish and English. All ages are welcome to attend. A complementary light dinner sponsored by Cucina Caruso will be served.

The 2020 Census is about people and money to ensure Oakland Park receives our fair share of more than $675 BILLION in federal funding. The 2020 Census data will impact all of our lives on a daily basis in the form of public housing and healthcare programs; early learning, schools and financial aid; hospitals and nursing homes; roads and highways; and emergency services. Be counted April 1, 2020!

Every ten years the U.S. Census Bureau counts residents across the country. A correct count is critical for Oakland Park as Census numbers are used to determine federal representation and funding of programs such as supplemental nutrition assistance, Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers, Children’s Health Insurance, and Low-Income Home Energy Assistance. Help us raise awareness of the importance of Census 2020, aggressively reach out to family, friends, and neighbors in Oakland Park by encouraging them to complete the 2020 Census. Be counted April 1, 2020!

The 2020 Census provides important data that lawmakers, business owners, teachers, and many others use to provide daily services, products, and support for you and the Oakland Park community. Every year, billions of dollars in federal funding go to hospitals, fire departments, schools, road and other resources based on census data. The Census results also determine the number of seats each state will have in the U.S. House of Representatives. Be counted April 1, 2020!

The 2020 Census counts every person living in the 50 states, District of Columbia and five U.S. territories. Each home in Oakland Park will receive directions in the mail to respond to a short questionnaire – online, by phone, or by mail. The 2020 Census is the first time you will be able to complete the census online. The Oakland Park Library at 1209 NE 37th Street offer free use of computers and assistance to complete the 2020 Census. Call the Library at 954-630-4370 for hours. Be counted April 1, 2020!
