Health and Wellness Classes


Welcome to Oakland Park's Free Health and Wellness Classes!

We are thrilled to offer a variety of classes and programs to help you improve your health and well-being. Experienced instructors are dedicated to providing you with the knowledge and tools you need to lead a healthy and happy life.

Whether you want to get in shape, reduce stress, or take better care of yourself, we have something for everyone. Our free classes are open to all levels, so whether you are a beginner or an experienced practitioner, you will feel right at home in our welcoming community.

In order to take part in these activities, registration is required. You can contact the Parks and Leisure office at 954-630-4500 to register. 

Classes are available to Oakland Park Residents two weeks prior to the activity date and to Non-Residents one week prior to the activity date.


AUGUST 19, 2023 - FIVE SENSES CLASS

Saturday, August 19, 2023 - 9:00 A.M. - Collins Community Center                                  3900 N.E. 3RD AVE., OAKLAND PARK, FL 33334                                                                                 Explore and create using all 5 senses. An immersive art class, unlike any other art class you have taken. Be ready to get messy and create something new, awakening sight, touch, smell, taste & sound.


SEPTEMBER 9, 2023 - HATHA YOGA CLASS

 Saturday, September 9, 2023 - 9:00 A.M. - Jaco Pastorius Community Center            1098 N.E. 40th CT., OAKLAND PARK, FL 33334                                                                                 Hatha yoga is practiced at a steady flow pace, focusing on breathing and control movements that promote joint mobility and flexibility. This practice reduces stress and enhances mindfulness. 


SEPTEMBER 30, 2023 - PADDLE BOARD FITNESS CLASS

 Saturday, September 30, 2023 - 9:00 A.M. - Veterans Park (South End by Playground)                                                                                                                                                             3401 N.W. 21ST AVE., OAKLAND PARK, FL 33334 
60-minute class for up to 8 participants. When working out on a paddle board, our bodies are ten times more engaged with balance, and every muscle in the body is getting a workout. This class starts with a light stretch, paddle on the water, and then anchor for a core and glutes workout and more stretching with meditation.


OCTOBER 14, 2023 - GLUTES & CORE CLASS

Saturday, October 14, 2023 - 9:00 A.M. - Wimberly Athletic Field                                            4000 N.E. 3RD AVE., OAKLAND PARK, FL 33334                                                                                      40 minute class. Focused exercises that target the glutes and the core. Most of this work is done on the ground on mats and each exercise is modified to each individual's athletic ability. Equipment like yoga mats, weights, medicine balls and resistance bands can be used to add more calorie burning workouts. Includes stretching before and after to avoid injuries. 


OCTOBER 28, 2023 - KUNDALINI YOGA CLASS

 Saturday, October 28, 2023 - 9:00 A.M. - Royal Palm Park (South end under Pavilion)  1701 N.W. 38TH ST., OAKLAND PARK, FL 33334                                                                            Kundalini yoga is a form of yoga that involves the use of mantra, breathing exercises and repetitive physical postures to activate your life force energy, leaving you energized and connected. 


NOVEMBER 11, 2023 - STRENGTH TRAINING CLASS

Saturday, November 11, 2023 - 9:00 A.M. - Wimberly Athletic Field                                        4000 N.E. 3RD AVE., OAKLAND PARK, FL 33334                                                                                     40 minute class. Focused on building and toning muscles by using weights, resistance bands and medicine balls to help to burn more calories throughout the day. Exercises focusing on either upper body or lower body, modified for each individual's athletic abilities. Stretching before and after to avoid injuries.
