Commissioner Steven R. Arnst was born and raised in South Florida. He moved to Broward County in 1966 and the City of Oakland Park in 1984.
He graduated from Northeast High School and went to the University of Florida. Commissioner Arnst began working at his family’s auto repair business in Pompano Beach in 1978. He has continued working there since, proudly overseeing day-to-day operations and continuing his family legacy.
Commissioner Arnst served on the Oakland Park City Commission from 1993 to 2001 and 2003 to 2011. Involved in the Oakland Park community for over 30 years, the Commissioner has served on various City advisory boards, including the Police & Fire Pension Board and the Civil Service Board.
Commissioner Arnst is passionate about helping the people of Oakland Park and enjoys setting policies that support and advance the community.

Commissioner Arnst holds office hours on the 4th Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. to noon at the Ethel M. Gordon Oakland Park Library, located at 1298 N. E. 37th Street. No appointment is necessary; residents can stop by to talk to the Commissioner, ask questions, and share ideas.
