Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) awards grant funding through the CDBG Program. The City participates in the program and funding is coordinated through Broward County. In the past, $30,000 of the total CDBG award to the City has been reserved for public service projects. The funding for public service projects has been used to fund projects of non-profit organizations. The City has typically approved applications to two non-profits in the amount of $15,000 each. Applications are for funding the following fiscal year (2021), not the current fiscal year at time of submittal (2020). Successful applicants in fiscal year 2020, which began Oct. 2019, will receive funding in fiscal year 2021, which begins Oct. 1, 2020.
Application period for non-profit organizations opens February 28, 2020.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
The City of Oakland Park is issuing a request for proposals (applications) from non-profit organizations serving residents of Oakland Park to be funded from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) through the Broward County Housing Finance and Community Development Division for the 46th Program Year (October 1, 2020 to September 30, 2021) as follows:
Community Development Block Grant (CDBG): Approximately $30,000 may be available for up to two (2) non-profit organizations, minimum amount of $15,000 each, serving the City of Oakland residents. This funding availability is not guaranteed.
The City is also considering a City Capital Improvement Project to be funded from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) through the Broward County Housing Finance and Community Development Division for the 46th Program Year (October 1, 2020 to September 30, 2021)
WORKSHOP & PUBLIC HEARING
A Workshop and Public Hearing for the above-mentioned funding will be held
WHEN: Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at 5:00 P.M.

All interested citizens are encouraged to attend this workshop and public hearing to find out how this funding process works and to provide comments on the funding needs of the community.
FINAL PUBLIC HEARING AND APPROVAL: The final recommendation for Capital Project Funding and Non-Profit Organization funding will be considered by the Oakland Park City Commission on March 18, 2020 at 6:30 p.m. in the City Commission Chambers, located at 3650 NE 12th Avenue, Oakland Park, Florida.
BROWARD COUNTY'S SUBMITTAL DATE: Once the City of Oakland Park selects the projects for funding, the applications will be submitted by the city to the Broward County Hosing Finance and Community Development Division, 110 NE 3rd Street, Third Floor, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33301, on or before 12 p.m. EST on Monday, March 23, 2020.
