    Teen Night is a place for children ages 11-17 to come enjoy a wide range of recreation and social activities in a relaxed atmosphere. We offer classes which include web production, guitar, dance, cooking, fitness, disc jockeying, basketball, golf lessons, swimming, how to make video games or homemade movies, painting, pottery or creative writing classes. Outings will include going camping, kayaking, rock climbing and ice skating, performing arts production and visit an art museum. Teen Spot sessions take place every Friday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. All sessions are free of charge and held during the school year on the evenings. Charges for special activities may apply.

  1. Art & Culture Board Meeting

    Members: The Art and Culture Board has 7 voting members appointed by the City Commission, 4 of whom are residents. Members serve terms of 2 years. Qualifications: Members will be knowledgeable in the field of public or private art, art education, architecture or community affairs, and chosen among the professional categories of: Architecture; Art Education; Landscape Architecture; Professional Artists; and Urban Planning Duties: 1. Act in an advisory capacity in matters pertaining to art and culture programs, including the development of art and culture programs and events for the City. 2. Review projects under section 24-56(H) "inclusion of public art for increased density," or section 24-269(G)(4) "additional public art," which includes art as a public amenity. Authority: The authority of the Art and Culture Board is outlined in Ordinance Section 24-169.

    Membership: The School Advisory Board consists of 7 voting members appointed as follows: 1 member appointed by each member of the City Commission; 1 member appointed by the City Manager; 1 member appointed by the board. Qualifications: Applicant must be a resident of the City of Oakland Park and registered voter of Broward County. No member shall be an employee of the Broward School Board. Duties: To advise the City Commission on all issues relating to educational matters which will impact the quality of education for City residents, or which will impact education facilities located within the City. Actively engage in the formulation of a community partnership so as to insure that all community interests regarding education are identified. Authority: The authority of the School Advisory Board is outlined in Ordinance Section 9-2T1.
