City of Oakland Park to Chlorinate Water System
Water Treatment Scheduled for February 13 – March 20, 2018
The City of Oakland Park will temporarily switch to using free chlorine in its drinking water system. This preventive maintenance procedure will begin at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 and will end at 9 a.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2018.
Free chlorination is a common practice for water systems using chloramines for disinfection. The chlorination period is anticipated to be transparent to our customers; however, some may notice a slight change in the taste or smell of their tap water. In addition, some customers may see water running from fire hydrants in their neighborhoods, which is part of the normal maintenance process.
