Prospect Road Mobility Improvement Project Construction

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) began construction on the $4.6 million Prospect Road Mobility Improvement Project Monday, April 13, 2020.  Lane and sidewalk closures will be posted. Access to residences and businesses will be maintained at all times. FDOT anticipates this construction project will be completed in the late spring of 2021.

The mobility improvements are planned along Prospect Road from SR 870/Commercial Boulevard to SR 811/North Dixie Highway. The improvements include:

  • Widening the roadway to accommodate 5‐foot bicycle lanes in each direction between Commercial Boulevard and Powerline Road
  • Repurposing the existing outside lanes to accommodate 7‐foot buffered bicycle lanes in each direction between Powerline Road and Dixie Highway
  • Improving existing roadway lighting with new LED fixtures at the Powerline Road intersection
  • Performing minor drainage improvements
  • Upgrading signage and curb ramps to current ADA standards
  • Milling and resurfacing the roadway

TRAFFIC IMPACTS:

  • Lane closures may occur from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Sunday through Saturday.
  • Lane closures may occur from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., Monday through Friday.
  • Pedestrian detours will be in place during sidewalk closures.
  • Access to residences and businesses will be maintained at all times.
