Oakland Park 2020 Census OutReach Action Team

Oakland Park’s first 2020 Census Outreach Action Team meeting will be held 6:30 p.m. July 30, 2019, at City Hall Chambers, 3650 NE 12 Avenue, Oakland Park, FL 33334. The meeting will be facilitated by a member of the United States Census Bureau who will provide an overview of the program and outreach process.

2020 United States Census
The National Census is conducted every ten years and serves as the basis for capturing our population and demographics.  This data impacts important decisions about funding for services and infrastructure in our community including: healthcare, early childhood education,  senior services, jobs, political representation, roads, schools and businesses.  More than $675 billion in federal funding flows back to states and local communities each year based on census data.  As such, it is critical to get an accurate count of Oakland Park’s population in the 2020 Census which begins March 2020.

The Oakland Park City Commission adopted resolution (R-2019-065) approving the formation of volunteers of our diverse community  interested in increasing awareness and encourage residents to respond to the 2020 Census. 

Sub-Committees will be formed to address specific segments of the community such as interfaith, schools, businesses, neighborhood associations, and media.
