  2. Beautification Advisory Board Meeting

    April 27, 2017, 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM @ Ctiy Hall Chambers

    Members: The Beautification Advisory Board membership consists of 7 voting members appointed by the City Commission, and 3 non-voting members. Members serve terms of 3 years. Non-Voting Members: 1 representative from the City Manager's Office; 1 representative from the Public Works Department; 1 representative from the Code Enforcement Department. Qualifications: Applicants must be a resident of the City of Oakland Park. Duties: 1. Investigate, study, and recommend plans to the City Commission as to improve the general health, sanitation, safety, and cleanliness of the City. 2. Encourage and recommend the placing, planting, and preservation of trees, flowers and shrubbery on public and private properties. 3. Review and make recommendations on all City landscape projects related to enhancing City parks, buildings, and rights of way when costs exceed $5,000. Authority: The authority of the Beautification Advisory Board is outlined in Ordinance Section 21-235.

    The City of Oakland Park will conduct a public meeting to discuss capital improvements for Collins Splash Pad/Playground. The sole purpose of this meeting will be to discuss a $200,000 application for Land and Water Conservation Program Grant to help finance trail improvements at the Park.

  1. Dancing in the Streets

    April 28, 2017, 6:00 PM - 10:00 PM @ Oakland Park City Hall

    The City of Oakland Park hosts a mile long block party from Jaco Pastorius Park to Oakland Park Boulevard (on 12th Avenue). This event is our Music on Main Street amped-up with nine live bands, including acoustic guitar performers, funk, jazz, top 40, country, rock, salsa, merengue, and tropical music. A lineup of Food Trucks will be open for good eats, and local downtown Oakland Park businesses will host family-friendly activities such as soccer kick with Americas Got Soccer - Indoor Arena, paint your own Picasso at TRAX Art Studios, Hair art designs by Dick's Service Station, create your own garden art with Pride Pottery Store, and get your body art on with henna tattoos at Tatts and Tacos. Ride the trolley and check out the fun from NE 36th Street & 12th Avenue to NE 32nd Street. Free parking in the Dixie Lots at NE 38th Street & Dixie Highway and at 12th Avenue and NE 32nd Street.
