  1. Development Review Committee (DRC) Meeting

    February 23, 2017, 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM

    Members: DRC members include representatives from the following entities: Building City Attorney Engineering Fire Prevention Landscape Planning Police/Crime Prevention Public Works/Solid Waste School District Traffic Urban Design Zoning Duties: The purpose of Development Review Committee (DRC) is for various City departments to complete a technical review of proposed developments and provide written comments for the applicant.

  2. Beautification Advisory Board Meeting

    February 23, 2017, 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM @ Ctiy Hall Chambers

    Members: The Beautification Advisory Board membership consists of 7 voting members appointed by the City Commission, and 3 non-voting members. Members serve terms of 3 years. Non-Voting Members: 1 representative from the City Manager's Office; 1 representative from the Public Works Department; 1 representative from the Code Enforcement Department. Qualifications: Applicants must be a resident of the City of Oakland Park. Duties: 1. Investigate, study, and recommend plans to the City Commission as to improve the general health, sanitation, safety, and cleanliness of the City. 2. Encourage and recommend the placing, planting, and preservation of trees, flowers and shrubbery on public and private properties. 3. Review and make recommendations on all City landscape projects related to enhancing City parks, buildings, and rights of way when costs exceed $5,000. Authority: The authority of the Beautification Advisory Board is outlined in Ordinance Section 21-235.

  3. School Advisory Board Meeting

    February 27, 2017, 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM

    Membership: The School Advisory Board consists of 7 voting members appointed as follows: 1 member appointed by each member of the City Commission; 1 member appointed by the City Manager; 1 member appointed by the board. Qualifications: Applicant must be a resident of the City of Oakland Park and registered voter of Broward County. No member shall be an employee of the Broward School Board. Duties: To advise the City Commission on all issues relating to educational matters which will impact the quality of education for City residents, or which will impact education facilities located within the City. Actively engage in the formulation of a community partnership so as to insure that all community interests regarding education are identified. Authority: The authority of the School Advisory Board is outlined in Ordinance Section 9-2T1.

  6. VITA Free Tax Preparation

    Adults. Have your taxes prepared for free through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. IRS certified volunteers provide free basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing for qualified individuals at the Ethel M. Gordon Oakland Park Library from January 24 to April 16 each Tuesday and Wednesday from 2pm-5pm. Before going make sure to call the Library at 954- 630-7374 or 954-630-4378 to find out the list of items you need to bring in preparation of your visit. The program is made available through the Hispanic Unity of Florida and services are provided in English and Spanish.

    Saturday, February 25, 2017 8:00AM – Until we run out of trees. 
    First come, First serve at Wimberly Athletic Field 4000 NE 3rd Avenue.
    
    •Proof of Oakland Park residency, or proof of business ownership in Oakland Park required.
    •Up to 3 trees  per household or business.
    •The young trees palms & shrubs are in 3 gallon containers for easy transport and planting.
    
    Educational Stations:

    •Watering & Aftercare
