City Aid to Non-Profits Program & Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program
City Aid to Non-Profits Program On September 19, 2017 the City Commission adopted the proposed budget for the 2018 Fiscal Year, which included $50,000 in funding for the City's aid to non-profit program. Organizations interested in applying for aid are required to complete and submit a copy of the below application to the City’s Financial Services Department. Applications must be submitted by November 8, 2017. Review and award of applications is tentatively scheduled for the City Commission meeting of December 6, 2017. Applicants selected will receive funding this fiscal year (2018). For questions, please contact the Financial Services Department at 954-630-4250. FY 2018 Grant Application Note: This application is only for the City Aid to Non-Profits Program. A separate application is required for the CDBG. Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) awards grant funding through the CDBG Program. The City participates in the program and funding is coordinated through Broward County. In the past, $30,000 of the total CDBG award to the City has been reserved for public service projects. The funding for public service projects has been used to fund projects of non-profit organizations. The City has typically approved applications to two non-profits in the amount of $15,000 each. Applications are for funding the following fiscal year, not the current fiscal year at time of submittal. Successful applicants in fiscal year 2018, which begins Oct. 2017, will receive funding in fiscal year 2019, which begins Oct. 1, 2018. The timeline for the CDBG program has not yet been announced by the County. The application for the CDBG program has not yet been released by the County.
